TOOL LANYARDS TO ELIMINATE DANGER OF DROPPING TOOLS WHILE WORKING AT HEIGHT

TOOL LANYARDS TO ELIMINATE DANGER OF DROPPING TOOLS WHILE WORKING AT HEIGHT

Ridgegear’s tool lanyards can help you prevent dropping tools while working at height

Tool lanyards are an essential height safety product designed to eliminate injuries from falling tools – a significant cause of fatalities in the workplace.

Ridgegear’s full range of high-quality tool lanyards are available to buy now from the Prolift Access e-shop on our website.

These UK-made lanyards come in three different ranges with a variety of tool tethering options, as well as a loop for karabiner connection to your harness.

Standard tool lanyards are made from high-quality flat webbing to provide basic tool restraint for small tools weighing up to 3kg.

The elastic tool lanyard range is manufactured from webbing with added elastication for ease of movement and basic energy-absorbing properties.

Ridgegear also have a shock absorber tool lanyard range, which are made from either advanced Kinetic webbing or incorporating a neat shock pack. These shock absorber lanyards are the pinnacle of tool height safety. In the event of dropping a heavy tool, they significantly minimise the risk of the user being pulled off a ladder or platform by drastically reducing the peak loads.

UNUSUAL DISCOVERY DURING BOOM LIFT LOLER EXAMINATION

UNUSUAL DISCOVERY DURING BOOM LIFT LOLER EXAMINATION

A family of birds found nesting in a customer’s boom lift this week

Prolift Access engineers are experts in fault-finding and repair when it comes to powered access equipment, but some jobs aren’t as straight forward as you’d expect.

During a visit to a customer’s site for a routine LOLER examination and service on a trailer-mounted boom lift this week, our mobile engineer Barry Green made a particularly unusual discovery.

A family of birds had nested in the Niftylift 120T and, judging by Barry’s photo, the babies seemed more interested in getting their breakfast than a six-monthly LOLER.

After liaising with the customer, it was decided to delay the service and keep the machine out of action until the young birds have flown the nest.

Our standard agreements over 1-3 years include all LOLER examinations, services, reminders, certificates and documentation, as well as no callout fees on breakdowns. We have depots located across the South West and can provide flexible agreements tailored to suit your requirements.

80ft Hybrid Boom Lift From JLG

80ft Hybrid Boom Lift From JLG

JLG has unveiled a new 80ft true Hybrid articulated boom lift, the H800AJ which will be available worldwide late 2017.

In diesel mode the engine powers the pumps and the ‘generator’. When extra power is required for steep inclines or heavy mud etc… the electric motor kicks in and adds the additional horsepower required for the incline. As such it is described as a parallel Hybrid system.

This machine can also run as a pure battery electric machine to reduce noise and emissions. As with the standard machine it is equipped from four wheel hydraulic drive, and an oscillating axle, with four wheel steer option. The H800AJ has a capacity of 230kg, with 16.8 metres outreach and 26.3 metres working height and an overall weight of 15.6 tonnes

At Platform Sales & Hire Ltd. we have a huge selection of brand new, used and rental access platforms available. Whether you are looking for a scissor lift, cherry picker, boom lift or personnel lift, our huge selection will cater to all of your requirements.

Skyjack Unveil Their Largest Cherry Picker

Skyjack have unveiled its very latest addition to its line-up of boom lifts. The Skyjack SJ85 AJ articulating boom lift has a working height of 91 feet, a horizontal outreach of 56 feet and an up-and-over clearance of 34 feet.

Skyjack’s Largest Boom Lift

The SJ85 will be the largest of Skyjack’s articulating boom lifts and features the same design elements as the other models in the series. Genie Introduces New Lift Guard Contact System

Genie Introduces New Lift Guard Contact System

The Genie Lift Guard Contact Alarm system offers a contemporary that can provide additional operator protection. Engineered as an electronic secondary guarding system, the alarm is designed to activate and alert others that an operator may need some assistance. This brand new accessory is now configured as a standard accessory on most new Genie articulated and telescopic boom models and is active whenever the foot switch on the boom is enabled.

How Does It Work?

The alarm system uses an activation cable fitted above the machine’s control panel. When pressure is applied to this cable, it disconnects and activates the system and stops all machine lift and driving functions to prevent additional platform movement. An alarm then sounds and beacons flash notifying people nearby that an operator may require assistance.

Advantages of the System

The Genie Lift Guard Contact Alarm is simple to use and can be easily used in conjunction with operator training required by industry standards worldwide which could enhance safe work practices on aerial sites. Offering a robust configuration with simple parts, the guard contact alarm design provides excellent visibility of the control panel and surroundings for the operator whilst not interfering with machine operation.

Sam Locket – Parts Manger

We would like to congratulate Sam Lockett, who has moved from our hire office to become our Parts Manager.

Sam has now got the task of reorganizing our stores department. Yesterday a whole mezzanine floor level was added. We are also importing some more racking which will then provide us with a full store of service parts for each line in our hire fleet.

Sam will be computerising it so that we do not have to rely on manufacturers for replacement parts, especially when a lot of our parts comes from abroad. The purpose is to be able to give a faster turnaround of breakdowns, both on site and in our workshop. We are working with parts suppliers on stocking arrangements. He will be monitoring stock levels and quantities, reordering stock and liaising with the engineers to make sure they have the correct equipment for the breakdown/refurb.

We believe this will benefit our machine standing time and will also be a huge benefit for our customers. The less time a machine is on a Red Tag then the quicker it can go out on hire.

This is part of our strategy to maintain our strapline, “Experience the Difference”.

We want to wish Sam all the best in his new Role.

PROLIFT MD PLANS CHARITY CYCLE RIDE TO APEX 2017 IN AMSTERDAM

PROLIFT MD PLANS CHARITY CYCLE RIDE TO APEX 2017 IN AMSTERDAM

Prolift Access managing director Andy Pearson is planning to cycle more than 400km to this year’s APEX 2017 show in Amsterdam.

Andy is planning the three-day charity ride to raise money for the Lighthouse Club, which provides support to construction workers and their families.

He already has several riders joining him, including IPAF’s director of operations Giles Councell, Training-4-Safety training manager Barry Donaghy and Barry’s daughter Katherine.

But he’s keen to hear from anyone else interested in taking part.

Andy said: “Day one is a 143km route. We start early at Royal Tunbridge Wells, heading for the ferry at Dover which will take in a short climb up to the top of the famous white cliffs.

“After crossing the English Channel, we’ll cycle the short ride from Calais along the coast to Dunkirk for our first overnight stay.

“Day two takes in three countries over 125km. From Dunkirk, we’ll head along the coast into Belgium and then inland towards Bruges. We’ll finish the day by cycling into Holland for an overnight stop at Middelburg.

“The grand finale on day three is a 170km flat ride towards Amsterdam, passing Rotterdam and The Hague.”

The charity ride is due to start on Saturday, April 29, arriving in Amsterdam on Monday, May 1 – the day before the start of the show at the Amsterdam RAI Convention Centre.
