Magnificent 12 for Platform Sales & Hire Ltd

UK based Platform Sales & Hire have just landed their largest access boom order. The project included for 6 off JLG 860SJs, two 1200SJPs a 1350SJP and one 1500SJ and the rest being 800AJs.

The value of the contract is worth seven figures and is the largest ‘one off’ end user sales order in the history of the company, which is currently celebrating its 15th year of business.

The customer had previously purchased equipment from PSHL and was very pleased with our service on the first order, so they had no hesitation in coming back to us with the second tranche of machines. The 12 machines are for use with a large end user company within UK.

WHAT IS BS 8620? HOW TO MEET THE NEW STANDARD FOR PODIUMS AND LOW-LEVEL WORK PLATFORMS

The LytePod is fully compliant with the new BS 8620 standard

The introduction of the new BS 8620 standard for low-level work platforms is an important development for all contractors who use podiums on site.

More and more construction sites will start listing BS 8620 as a minimum requirement for use of low-level work platforms.

The LytePod is a fully certified BS 8620 podium. It is available to buy in three different sizes – 1m, 1.2m or 1.5m.

Each podium has two adjustable platform heights and is fully compliant with BS 8620, which has developed from the PAS 250 specifications.

Prolift Access are an official Lyte online supplier, and we have the new BS 8620 LytePod Podiums available for sale on our website.

PASMA are advising any users with non-PAS250 podiums to upgrade their units to the new BS 8620 podiums immediately. Those with PAS250-compliant podiums do not need to stop using them straight away, but are advised to upgrade to BS 8620 when they require replacing.

UPFEST 2017 STREET ARTISTS REACH NEW HEIGHTS WITH PROLIFT ACCESS

Prolift Access were back to help the world’s top graffiti and street artists give Bristol a stunning makeover at Upfest 2017 this weekend.

More than 300 artists visited the city to create their masterpieces on the sides of buildings and venues across Bedminster and Southville.

Prolift’s Bristol depot supplied 10 of their Skyjack diesel scissor lifts for Upfest, giving the artists a safe work platform and enabling them to comfortably reach heights of up to 50ft.

Prolift also supplied a JLG 800AJ – an articulating diesel boom lift with a maximum platform height of 80ft – to help Brazilian artist Eduardo Kobra create a spectacular technicolour portrait of John Lennon on the wall of the Tobacco Factory.

In addition to supplying machines, Prolift Access also provided ground protection mats and laid on IPAF boom and scissor lift operator training courses for Upfest officials.

Platform Sales and Hire Ltd are Celebrating 15 Exciting Years

The company was founded in 2002 by Chris Caney and Duncan Howard on an ethos to supply customers with modern, up-to-date access equipment and excellent value for money. Fifteen years on we are proud to still uphold our original values, whether the equipment is rented or purchased.

The early years focussed on sales until Bucks Access Rental was acquired in 2010 allowing us to enter the rental market with a fleet of 80 machines. Our staff, customers and manufacturers, together with long-standing friends in the industry, have all helped us grow to a fleet of 850 machines. Operating out of two Access Depots – Milton Keynes and Birmingham – our team has grown from two to over 63 members of staff.

Our fully-equipped Service Department is busy maintaining around 400 service contracts nationwide, while our IPAF Training Department achieved PASMA Approved Training Centre status in February 2016.

Taking time to reflect on such a milestone, we’re viewing the future with immense excitement. Year on year we are growing and as a company, we’re looking forward to more positive growth and everything the next 15 years or more will bring!

PROLIFT ACCESS OPEN HINKLEY POINT C PROJECT DESK

Prolift Access has its new Hinkley Point C project desk up and running.

Based at the Somerset Energy Innovation Centre at Bridgwater, our project desk is conveniently located right on the doorstep of the Hinkley C development.

Prolift is a fully registered supplier with the Hinkley Supply Chain and can provide contractors with all their powered access requirements while working at Hinkley Point.

We have an extensive range of boom and scissor lifts, and other specialist powered access equipment, which can be delivered quickly and reliably from our main depot in Wellington just down the M5.

Prolift Access is also members of the Hinkley Point Training Agency and can provide a full range of IPAF training for boom or scissor lift operators as well as PASMA training for access tower users.

UNUSUAL DISCOVERY DURING BOOM LIFT LOLER EXAMINATION

A family of birds found nesting in a customer’s boom lift this week

Prolift Access engineers are experts in fault-finding and repair when it comes to powered access equipment, but some jobs aren’t as straight forward as you’d expect.

During a visit to a customer’s site for a routine LOLER examination and service on a trailer-mounted boom lift this week, our mobile engineer Barry Green made a particularly unusual discovery.

A family of birds had nested in the Niftylift 120T and, judging by Barry’s photo, the babies seemed more interested in getting their breakfast than a six-monthly LOLER.

After liaising with the customer, it was decided to delay the service and keep the machine out of action until the young birds have flown the nest.

Our standard agreements over 1-3 years include all LOLER examinations, services, reminders, certificates and documentation, as well as no callout fees on breakdowns. We have depots located across the South West and can provide flexible agreements tailored to suit your requirements.

80ft Hybrid Boom Lift From JLG

JLG has unveiled a new 80ft true Hybrid articulated boom lift, the H800AJ which will be available worldwide late 2017.

In diesel mode the engine powers the pumps and the ‘generator’. When extra power is required for steep inclines or heavy mud etc… the electric motor kicks in and adds the additional horsepower required for the incline. As such it is described as a parallel Hybrid system.

This machine can also run as a pure battery electric machine to reduce noise and emissions. As with the standard machine it is equipped from four wheel hydraulic drive, and an oscillating axle, with four wheel steer option. The H800AJ has a capacity of 230kg, with 16.8 metres outreach and 26.3 metres working height and an overall weight of 15.6 tonnes
