National construction equipment and services provider Speedy, has taken delivery of 380 new Dingli lifts after a £4.3m investment as part of a continuing strategy to replenish and expand its powered access fleet.

Speedy Powered Access has bought a significant quantity of zero-emission battery powered scissor lifts and mast lifts, with working heights ranging from 6.7m up to 15.7m.

Other machines recently delivered include the popular and robust 12m Rough Terrain 4×4 scissor lift. These units are fully compatible with low-emission hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), which Speedy uses to pre-fuel all powered access equipment as standard at no additional cost. HVO emits up to 90% less CO2e than standard red diesel.

The equipment is available from the firm’s 10 Powered Access Specialist Service Centres, located across the UK, including the business’ industry first low carbon Innovation Centre in Milton Keynes.

Speedy’s investment expands the range of Dingli machinery available to its customers, while also increasing access to sustainable solutions. It builds on the previous investment in April 2020, which added 130 Dingli scissor and mast boom lifts to the firm’s powered access fleet.

National construction equipment and services business Speedy, is helping customers to reduce carbon emissions after becoming the first national hire provider to switch to fuelling powered access machinery with hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) as standard. The company’s 11 UK wide specialist powered access service centres will now fuel machinery with HVO instead of red diesel at no additional cost to customers, with the move initially expected to save 225 tonnes of CO2e each year.

It will also supply HVO directly to customers’ sites, from 20 litre ‘fuel in a box’ packs to fully managed fuel services.

Speedy will use Green D+ enhanced HVO as as its preferred fuel, which can be used in pre-existing engines, reducing emissions by up to 90% when compared to using red diesel. The fuel also emits fewer other pollutants, contributing to safer air quality for site workers and projects’ neighbouring communities.

The switch follows a two-year trial by the business to ensure the fuel is sustainably sourced, fully compatible with machinery, and independently verified to reduce carbon emissions.

The rollout of HVO also follows Speedy Powered Access’s significant ongoing investment in a more sustainable powered access fleet, with orders already placed for a further 180 hybrid boom lifts, and 250 more electric scissor lifts to help meet increased demand for low-carbon working at height solutions.

Leading construction equipment hire and services provider Speedy has added 100 new boom and scissor lifts to its UK fleet as part of its powered access investment strategy.

The £3m investment in new Skyjack equipment include articulated and telescopic boom lifts. Models include the diesel-powered all-terrain SJ46AJ and SJ66T, and the all-electric SJ30ARJE, which have a working heights of 15.93m, 22.12m & 10.82m respectively. The booms offer effective solutions for a wide range of differing work at height challenges.

The hire provider has also taken delivery of more Skyjack SJ6826 & SJ6832 rough terrain scissor lifts, which provide a working height range from 9.75m to 11.58m. The lifts feature four-wheel drive and up to 50% gradeability for use on all terrains.

Delivery of the Skyjack equipment is the latest in an ongoing series of significant investment by Speedy Powered Access, which has recently expanded its fleet with 130 new Dingli electric scissor lifts and 50 Niftylift hybrid boom units.

IPAF’s new mobile phone app e-PAL has launched. It is the first step by IPAF to digitalise their operation and make it easier for operatives to prove their competency and qualification on sites.

What are the benefits of e-PAL?
Environmentally sustainable, it replaces the need for paper, plastic documents and licences, allowing learners to securely store, share and manage their qualifications from their mobile phone. Learners and operators will also be able to gain access to the most up-to-date safety information to help them be safer in the workplace.

How does e-PAL work?
Learners can download the app prior to attending any IPAF training course and will be encouraged to download the app whilst at one of our training centres.

New operators will be able to download the e-PAL app and access digital PAL cards and training guides securely. Existing card holders will be able to scan their cards and upload them onto the app.

Speedy are proud to have taken part in the exploration stages for the development of the e-PAL app, alongside IPAF.

Hire equipment and services provider Speedy has invested in 130 new electric lifts as it begins a multi-million-pound equipment expansion plan for 2021.

The firm’s Powered Access business has bought 90 scissor lifts and 40 mast boom units, manufactured by Dingli, as part of its strategy to expand its range of hybrid and pure electric lifting models, providing contractors with more choice as they work towards net-zero emissions targets.

The new scissor lifts include the JCPT0807DCS and JCPT1008DC models, which deliver a max working height of 7.8 metre and 10 metres respectively. The AMWP8100 mast boom lifts offer a working height of up to 11.2 metres.

Each model provides efficient zero-emission battery power, in a compact form-factor, making them suitable for a variety of working at height tasks including maintenance and installation projects.

The equipment is available from the firm’s 11 Powered Access Specialist Service Centres, located across the UK. Supporting Speedy’s responsibility programme ‘Energise’, Speedy Powered Access provided a brand new Dingli 26’ scissor lift for the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) to use at North Warwickshire & South Leicestershire College’s MIRA Technology Institute campus. The lift was used with the college’s new intake of powered access engineering apprentices.

Powered access equipment hire and services provider Speedy Powered Access, has expanded its fleet of low emission equipment with a £2m investment in 50 new hybrid boom lifts to help customers reduce pollution and meet carbon targets.

The investment follows the launch in November of Speedy Powered Access, a new business which combines Prolift, Platform Sales & Hire and Lifterz – companies acquired by Speedy since 2017.

Speedy Powered Access employs 180 people across 11 Specialist Service Centres in the UK. The business says the new division will deliver a simpler, standardised service for powered access customers, and will provide sales, training and maintenance and refurbishment services alongside hire.

The hybrid system used by the new boom lifts, manufactured by Milton Keynes access specialist Niftylift, allows power to be automatically drawn from both the diesel engine and the electric battery pack.

The units can also run for a full day on a single charge in electric-only mode and are suited to indoor or outdoor operation, noise-sensitive sites, or when ultra-low emissions are required.

Construction, infrastructure and industrial equipment hire and services provider Speedy, has launched a new national powered access business supported by a multi-million-pound fleet investment and a number of senior appointments.

Speedy has merged its existing powered access businesses Prolift, Platform Sales & Hire and Lifterz – firms acquired by Speedy since 2017 – to create a single entity Speedy Powered Access, which will provide customers with a comprehensive range of over 8,500 machines from 11 dedicated powered access Specialist Service Centres across the UK.

Speedy says the restructure is central to its aim of providing an industry leading simple, standardised service for its powered access customers.
In addition to core equipment hire, the new business will also provide training, fleet sales, and maintenance packages to give customers a full end-to-end powered access service.

The move follows a multi-million pound investment in additional fleet, including 100 new Hauloutte Star 10 mast booms, creating one of the largest mast boom fleets in the UK – with further significant investment across the entire fleet range planned over the coming months.

Speedy powered access has also strengthened its senior team by hiring Marc Johnson as Head of Engineering having previously held senior technical and engineering positions at Riwal and Nationwide Platforms, and David Burns as Regional Manager for the South East, who previously held senior operational positions at AFI.
